The story suffers from the fact that it was originally serialized and is now presented as a single volume, so, like those TV shows that perform a total recap after each commercial, it has too much repetition to be read as a single volume. Otherwise it is a good tale. People have all these different interpretations of the story, mine is that West doesn't exist and only the narrator does, who is in an asylum talking to his psychologist.

Great short story, perfect for the ebook format.
Provided that I'm a huge fan of the 1985 film, Re-Animator, it was very interesting to finally read Mr. Lovecraft's original story. I can easily see where the filmmakers based their script for the movie. I highly recommend both this book and the film.
It was cool. Like really cool. Movie was cool too. But book was like real cool. And that's all I have to say about that.
Who knew reanimation was such an issue? Lovecraft did! Creepy, as always. Dead things really do go bump in the night.
Nothing at all about this to like. It's just terrible. Only $1.84 so I wont ask for money back. But it stinks.
Though the story is relatively short, it pulls you in and reviles you until the end. I only wish it were longer; the cliffhanger is maddening.
I read the book after watching the movie. I would say the book had different characters but most of the same elements of the movie. It is scarey. However, because it was done in serial magazine format, the chapters repeat a lot of the same information. H.P. Lovecraft's works were sadly ignored during his lifetime. I have noticed that most of his stories are based on the dangers of technology as is this one.
